Introduction – Level 1
  • Total No of Sessions: 12 sessions (1 hour each)
  • Course Fee: INR 6,000 (USD 109 for residents outside India)
  • Schedule: Once a week
  • Batch Size: Not more than 8 students

Course content:

  • Basic Hastaks (hand movements)
  • Tatkar – Thaha, Dugun, Chaugun with Tihaai
  • Hasta mudras and Padabhed
  • Chakkar patterns
  • Introduction to Kathak (Theory)
  • Introduction to Teental (Theory)
Introduction – Level 2
  • Total No of Sessions: 16 sessions (1 hour each)
  • Course Fee: INR 8,000 (USD 134 for residents outside India)
  • Schedule: Once a week
  • Batch Size: Not more than 8 students

  • Tatkar in chaugun with 4 paltas and tihaai
  • Diga Diga Tatkar (4 straight patterns)
  • Ang Kavya and Shirobheda in accordance with Abhinaydarpan
  • Sum exercises (practice different poses for the Sum)
  • 2 Gintis
  • 2 Tihaais
  • Heel Chakkar
  • 3 sada todas
  • 1 Chakkradar toda
  • Brief introduction to famous Kathak Gurus (Theory)

Rujuta Soman - Online Kathak Classes

Rujuta Soman is one of the international leading Kathak dancers of India and founder of the Rujuta Soman Cultural Academy. She was honed and polished under the tutelage of late Guru Pandita Dr. Rohini Bhate for over 20 years. She has to her credit many productions like RajahansaTrishna, Krishna SankeertanShivashakti Tatva, Bhairav Bhawataraka and many more which are highly appreciated on prestigious platforms.

She has been bestowed with many honors and titles like “Nritya Alankaar” by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and “Singaar Mani” by Sur Singar Samsad. In January 2018, Rujuta has been awarded the “ Shree Nandini “ award for outstanding contribution in the field of dance by the FIFTH NOTE ACADEMY ( a new vertical of Shakhri Begum Memorial Trust ) at the hands of Mr. Praveen Kadle , Ustaad Rashid Khan and Prof. Mandavi Singh.

Rujuta Soman is also the creative advisor at Rithwik Foundation for Performing Arts and one of the teachers of online kathak classes at RSCA.

RSCA Teacher - Sampada Pillai

Vidushi Sampada Pillai

Sampada was initiated into Kathak when she was 6. She is an alumnus of Kala Academy, Goa. She trained under Guru Smt. Amala Suri Patkar. Having successfully completed the Parangat diploma in Kathak at Kala Academy, Sampada moved to Pune and came under the tutelage of renowned Kathak legend late Pandita Dr. Rohini Bhate at Nrityabharati Kathak Dance Academy. Sampada has many solo and group performances to her credits, like Somnathpur and Halebid-Belur, Nakshatra Utsav, Goa Doordarshan. and Natya Tantra on Shankara TV.

Aboli Thatte

Aboli is born in a musical family. Her first cousin is the globally acclaimed classical singer, Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar. Her aunt Smt. Anjali Marathe is a recipient of the prestigious National Award for singing. She started her formal training in Kathak at the tender age of 7 under well-known Kathak Exponent and Guru Mrs. Nilima Adhye. Since last few years, she is under the valuable guidance of the renowned Kathak Exponents & Gurus Smt. Rajashree Jawdekar & Smt. Rujuta Soman. She has also begun her training under the respected Taalyogi Padmashri Pandit Suresh Talwalkar.

Anila Arora

Anila Arora has been learning under Rujuta’s guidance for the past 9 years. She is also aspiring to appear for the Visharad Examination through the Akhil Bharatiya Mahavidyalaya. Since the last three years, Anila has been conducting classes for groups as well as one-on-one sessions for ladies and kids (beginner and intermediate levels) at Pimple Gurav, Kharadi. She also conducts online classes in association with RSCA.

Shreya Karandikar

Shreya Karandikar is learning under Rujuta’s guidance since 11 years. She is one of the teachers at RSCA. She has participated in several performances and workshops conducted by RSCA. Her focus is on taking classes for specialisation. She is learning the art of teaching by conducting workshops and teaching basic classes. She is especially interested in teaching classes for children.

Prisha Thakkar

Prisha Thakkar has been learning under Rujuta’s guidance for the past 7 years . She is a teacher under the Rujuta Soman Cultural Academy since a year and a half and handles the Kalyani Nagar branch of RSCA in Pune (beginner and intermediate levels).
She also actively is a part of many performances and workshops held for enhancing the skill of young budding dancers.

RSCA Teacher - Renuka Tikare

Renuka Tikare

Renuka Tikare has been learning Kathak for the last 13 years.She has a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in History and Kathak, and an indology diploma. Currently, Renuka is pursuing a Master’s  degree from Savitribai Phule Pune University, and is a student of the Lalit Kala Kendra.
