Ratnashree, who was born to a Tamil Brahmin family, specialises in Hindustani style and she is also an expert at all its six gharanas.
The 37-year-old has travelled with her percussion instrument far and wide, in countries including Austria, Kuwait, Maldives and all over India, mostly alone. She has even been staying away from marriage, all for her love for tabla.
She did her tabla visharad. She did her tabla visharad in Akhil Bharathiya Gandharva Maha Mandal, Mumbai, and passed with distinction under the guidance of professor Manoher Keskar.
Ratnashree also went on to complete another Masters in tabla from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, securing a rank, under the guidance of Keskar and Ustad Faiyaz Khan. She also took advanced classes from Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar and Ustad Faiyaz Khan, of Dilli Gharana Bharathiya Gandharva.
