As an adept tabla player, Vishwanath is a talented artiste. A civil engineer by education, he gave up a promising career to dedicate his life to Indian classical music.
Vishwanath was initiated into learning the tabla from Shri Suryakant Naik, and later from Vibhav Nageshkar for 12 years.
At present, he is undertaking advance training from Pt. Suresh Talwalkar. Some of the musicians he has performed with Ashwini Bhide, Shubha Mudgal, Zarine Daruwala, Ulhas Bapat, Pt. Birju Maharaj, etc.
Vishwanath is also one of the few tabla players who accompanies kathak dancers. He has toured to various parts of the world for performances.
