Rising Star Ronkini Gupta’s Enchanting Morning Performance at ‘Pratahswar’

The world of Indian classical music witnessed a soul-stirring morning performance by the exceptionally talented vocalist Ronkini Gupta at the renowned ‘Pratahswar’ program. This musical extravaganza was meticulously organized by Pancham Nishad in collaboration with the esteemed Rithwik Foundation for Performing Arts (RFPA). Ronkini’s captivating concert is now accessible to music aficionados through RFPA’s digital platform, ‘SHARADA RANGAMANCHA,’ and our YouTube channel.

Raaga Ahir Bhairav – “Kirpa Karo Sai” (Vilambit Ektaal)

Kicking off her mesmerizing performance, Ronkini Gupta embraced the serene and evocative raaga Ahir Bhairav. Her rendition of the bandish “Kirpa Karo Sai” in Vilambit Ektaal (12 beat cycle) set the tone for an enchanting musical journey.

Raaga Ahir Bhairav – “Albela Sajan Aayo Ri” (Addha/Sitarkhani)

Ronkini’s mastery over the intricate nuances of raaga Ahir Bhairav continued as she presented the bandish “Albela Sajan Aayo Ri”, weaving the melodic tapestry into the rhythmic fabric of Addha/Sitarkhani (16 beat cycle).

Raaga Ahir Bhairav – “Bhor Aayi Bheeni Bheeni” (Ektaal – Drut)

In her next offering, Ronkini Gupta displayed her versatility by transitioning to the faster tempo of Drut Ektaal (12 beat cycle) while retaining the beauty of raaga Ahir Bhairav. Her rendition of “Bhor Aayi Bheeni Bheeni” resonated with depth and emotion.

Raaga Miyan Ki Todi – “Jai Durge Mata Bhavani” (Rupak – Madhyalay)

Expanding the horizons of her performance, Ronkini ventured into the profound raaga Miyan Ki Todi. Her rendition of “Jai Durge Mata Bhavani” in Rupak (Madhyalay – 7 beat cycle) paid homage to the rich heritage of Indian classical music.

Raaga Miyan Ki Todi – “Baje Jhanana Jhana Baje” (Teentaal – Drut)

Closing her concert on a high note, Ronkini Gupta unleashed the full power of raaga Miyan Ki Todi. Her rendition of “Baje Jhanana Jhana Baje” in Teentaal (Drut – 16 beat cycle) left the audience spellbound with its intricate patterns and emotive depth.

Ronkini Gupta’s performance at ‘Pratahswar’ was a testament to her unwavering dedication to the art of classical music. Her ability to evoke profound emotions through her voice and her command over a diverse range of raagas and taals have firmly established her as a rising star in the world of Indian classical music. Ronkini Gupta

Ronkini Gupta is a very talented and popular Indian classical singer. She has completed her Alma matter from St Xavier’s College in Mumbai, India. She won SAREGAMAPA World Series in 2004. The reality show airs on ZEE TV. She is known for singing perfectly classical and contemporary music. She is known for Khyaal, Fusion, and Bollywood singing. She hails from the steel city of India- Jamshedpur. She is a Sangeet Visharad holder from Gandharva Mahavidyalay in Hindustani Classical music and has trained under Shri Chandrakant Apte. She also trained under the talented artists, Ustad Dilshad Khan, Pandit Samaresh Chowdhary, Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan.

In the year 2000, Ronkini won the National Level Merit in the Hindustani Classical Vocal Category at the Doverlane Music Conference in Kolkata, India. She was only 16 at the time of receiving this exemplary national honor. She started her work in Mumbai by composing two songs for the movie ‘Mr Ya Miss’ in 2005 for the ace singer Sonu Nigam. She then sang in the Bollywood movies ‘Jai Maharashtra Dhaba Bhatinda’ in 2013, ‘Aankhon Dekhi’ in 2014, ‘Pyaar Vali Love Story’ in 2014 where she sang the song Jahan Jaun Tujhe Paun with singer Divya Kumar, Taleem in 2016, Tumhari Sulu in 2017 where she sang Rafu for Vidya Balan, ‘Hrudyantar’ in 2017, and ‘Dry Day’ in 2017 in which she sang Gori Gori Paan. Her most notable work came in Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Sui Dhaga’ in 2018. In this movie, she sang two songs for Anu Malik. One was Chaav Laaga with Papon and the other was her solo Tu Hi Aham. She was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her song Rafu in ‘Tumhari Sulu’.

Her other awards that she has received include Artist Aloud Award for Best Composition in 2016 for Ritu Basant Ki and Artist Aloud Award for Best Hindi Song

in 2018 for her song Aye Ri Chandni. She has also received NITIE Award for Recognition of Significant Contribution in the Field of Singing in 2018. She was seen in Coke studio season 4 with Sachin Jigar. She is also a part of a band called the Kheyaal-e-Jazz Project. She was a part of the musical team for the title track of the Colors TV show ‘Thoda Sa Badal Thoda Sa Paani’.
