Sruti Sarathy is a versatile Indian classical violinist and vocalist. A native of the Bay Area California, Sruti initially trained in Carnatic music under Vid. Anuradha Sridhar and then came under the tutelage of the world renowned Vid. Kala Ramnath to train in Hindustani Music. Sruti’s music brings out the voice of the Indian violin in a contemporary and imaginative way. She is the recipient of many awards, including “Best Violinist” from the Music Academy, Madras in 2019 and 2020. A graduate of Stanford University and a Fulbright Scholar, Sruti collaborates with top Indian classical musicians and performs in festivals across the world. She often takes the role of composer-performer for dance and theater works. She is the creator of Sound Thoughts, a project exploring resonances between music and literature. She is also a co-founding member of the Carnatic Music Justice Project. Sruti looks forward to making music as her career and currently has moved to India.
