Pandit Satyasheel Deshpande’s views regarding Khayal Gayan:
This event is testament to RFPA’s dedicated efforts towards inculcating a taste for classical music in our generation’s youth. Music analyst Pandit Satyasheel Deshpande interacted with the audience in ‘Khayal Vimarsha’, a program conducted by Rithwik Foundation in their auditorium.
For every artist, mastering Khayal Gayan in Hindustani classical music is akin to a spiritual awakening. Vilambit (Bada Khayal) and Drut (Chota Khayal) offer the freedom for innovative self-expressions. ‘Shruti‘ beyond taal and the twelve swaras (notes) allows an artist to express himself in his own creative way.
Pandit Deshpande performed various stanzas of traditional bandishes and explained its tukde, lay, taal, and raag.
