With innumerable awards to her credit and scores of highly successful performances at prestigious venues from all over India Yashaswi Sirpotdar has truly ‘arrived’ on the contemporary concert scene.
Gifted with a highly mellifluous voice which captures the mind and the heart of the listener from the very first note , Yashaswi has a charming stage presence and an extremely sophisticated sense of presentation. Her complete mastery over the ragas she presents in a concert, her understanding of the mood of the composition, her interaction with’ theka’ reveal her performing skills. Her super speed taans proclaim her class as a singer.
Yashaswi who was born on 21st August 1980, began her career as a child prodigy. Her grandmother Kalavati Sathe is a musician. Yashaswi began fiddling with the grandmother’s harmonium and astonished the elders around with her good sense of melody. At the age of two and a half, she gave her first performance sitting on her grandmother’s lap. Ever since then, she has not looked back.
Yashaswi was fortunate to be groomed by Pandita Padma Talwalkar, one of the foremost vocalists of the country today. She has trained with Ms. Talwalkar for over 18 years and has imbibed various facets of Gwalior and Jaipur Attrauli Gharana styles of khayal music. Over the years, Yashaswi has attracted the attention of the music lovers by giving excellent and competent vocal support to Ms. Talwalkar. She is a recipient of the Kesarbai Kerkar scholarship instituted by the NCPA, Mumbai.
