This program was originally showcased as one of the performance segment in the Anandotsav concert, which was organised by Aamad Pratishthan, in association with Rithwik Foundation for Performing Arts in December 2023, in Mumbai.

As the seventh-generation representative of the Etawah Gharana, Shahid Parvez Khan was introduced to the rich traditions of the Gharana at a young age by his father and mentor, Ustad Aziz Khan, a renowned musician and son of the legendary sitar and surbahar virtuoso, Ustad Waheed Khan.

Hailing from a lineage that produced revered figures in Hindustani Classical Music, including Ustad Sahabdad Khan, Ustad Imdad Khan, Ustad Enayet Khan, and Ustad Vilayat Khan, Shahid Parvez Khan continues to carry forward the legacy with distinction

Pt. Ronu Majumdar

Born on June 22, 1963, in Varanasi, Pt. Ronu Majumdar’s musical journey began during his formative years in the vibrant musical atmosphere of the city. Varanasi, teaming with musical luminaries such as the eminent tabla maestro Pt. Kishan Maharaj, the Thumri Queen Smt. Girija Devi, and the legendary Ustad Bismilla Khan, played a pivotal role in shaping RonuJi’s early musical influences.

Growing up in a disciplined manner, Pandit Ronu Majumdar diligently followed the Guru-Shishya tradition, visiting his mentor’s house for lessons. His unwavering dedication, commitment, and focus bore fruit, helping him overcome the challenges of a challenging life.

PanditJi emerged as a trendsetter and style influencer, contributing significantly to the global popularity of the flute during his era. His remarkable journey is marked by numerous accolades, starting with the All-India Radio Award, Aditya Vikram Birla Award (1999), Sangeet Natak Academy Award (2014), Lifetime Achievement Award by Navbharat Times, National Kumar Gandharva Award (2006), and Pandit Jasraj Gaurav Puraskar (2008), presented by the Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Devendra Phadnavis.

Acknowledged as India’s top-ranking flautist, Pandit Ronu Majumdar’s music has brought solace to countless ears. Collaborating with musical legends such as Gulzar Sahab, R. D Burman, Vishal Bhardwaj, Baaba Maal, Asha Bhosle, and Khayyam, he has left an indelible mark on the industry. Noteworthy is his contribution to Pt. Ravi Shankar Ji’s album ‘Chants of India’ and his participation in the merchant ivory film ‘In Custody’ (1994), alongside Zakir Hussain and Ustad Sultan Khan.

Beyond national borders, Panditji has gained international acclaim with releases like ‘Primary Colours’ in Hollywood. Collaborating with global icons like Ry Cooder, George Harrison, Michael Stipe, and John Hassels, he has showcased the versatility of his artistry.
